Vancie Manigat

Renée Vancie Manigat was born on November 4th in Cap-Haïtien, where she completed her primary and secondary education at Anne-Marie Javouhey School and Collège Régina Assumpta, respectively. After obtaining her baccalaureate, she moved to the Haitian capital, Port-au-Prince, to pursue university studies. This journey led her to the Institut des Hautes Études Commerciales et Économiques (IHECE), where she studied Economics.

She worked for institutions such as Banque Nationale de Crédit (BNC), Maelle Creations, Collections Xaragua, Chocomax, the Chamber of Women Entrepreneurs (CCFEH), Cabinet Manigat Fils et Associés, and Ferme Manigat-Donnat. She also worked in humanitarian aid with CARE.

She invested in promoting culture and tourism by launching her first major project, Escapade Magazine, in 2014.

Passionate about writing, she has published several successful papers in the online daily AyiboPost, such as The Street, Une Réalité Affligeante. She was part of the editorial team of Dofen News from its inception in 2018 until 2023 and served as interim editor in 2020. She also teamed up with HAICRAFT and helped as a copywriter, an artisanal platform.

In 2018, she published a collection of short stories entitled Destin Bleu. This collection embraces the daily life of Haitian people and their culture, customs, and traditions in a simple and familiar style, as described by Elbeau Carlynx on the back cover.

Renée Vancie Manigat is highly involved in the community and promoting women’s rights. She is committed to contributing to the sustainable development of the community through an organization she founded, We Are Women Org.

Founded in 2019, the organization is active in northern Haiti and focuses on gender, education, and culture. She has also been part of the Rotaract movement since 2014, the international organization NAAHP, and has collaborated with other organizations, such as SOHASAN.

Her work has been recognized twice. In 2021, she was nominated Femme Dofen and received the award for the 50 Most Inspiring Women of Haiti, among other female leaders. In addition, We Are Women Org was featured among the top 10 non-profits led by young people in 2022 by “Observatoire de la Jeunesse Haïtienne.”

She has been a scholarship recipient for the Transcultural program with UNESCO, with CARACOLI for cultural management training, with COADY INSTITUTE for a certificate in Women’s Leadership for Community Development, and with the HAITI TECH SUMMIT for intensive tourism training through the Caribbean Tourism Accelerator (Haiti Edition 2022), followed by an internship with the Haitian Film Festival in California.

Renée Vancie Manigat is married and the mother of an adorable little girl.
